TUES., JAN. 5, 5:30 PM THE CITY OF OAKLAND VOTES ON DECLARING A SHELTER CRISIS IN THE CITY OF OAKLAND

What’s Next for Oakland’s Homeless Community?  Be Part of Oakland’s Diversity

Oakland’s homeless community is as important as anyone else—but it’s more than a shelter crisis. Come to the City Council meeting early. Fill out a speaker card at the meeting and speak on this item. Discuss what’s next for Oakland’s homeless community:

1. How will the City protect its homeless community against gentrification,

outsider developers and investors?

2. How will Oakland’s homeless community directly benefit from any new

development?

3. How will the City of Oakland and this ordinance give respect and dignity to

its homeless community?

4. How will the City and this ordinance promote understanding and visibility of

Oakland’s homeless issues beyond the shelter crisis?

5. How will the City Council communicate directly with Oakland’s homeless

community and understand its needs beyond the shelter crisis?

WHEN: Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 5:30 pm.

WHERE:  Oakland City Hall, City Council Chamber, 3rd Floor

The meeting is free and open to the public.
